Life is a Season
PAIISE was created during one of life’s more challenging seasons, a time when my life felt as though it had literally been placed on pause. I was navigating profound loss and grief, and was eventually diagnosed with stress-induced anxiety. My GP gently encouraged me to find a path that would help to ease my mind and calm my natural state of being, which led me to meditation.
Up until then, my experience with meditation had been limited to the occasional savasana at the end of a yoga class. As I sifted through outdated and unrelatable YouTube videos, I quickly realised that to truly soothe my anxiety, I needed a deeper understanding and a daily practice. This journey led me to enrol in a meditation teacher training certification, and it wasn’t long before I noticed profound shifts in my well-being and in how I experienced each day.
A New Season
Nothing could have prepared me for the mental shift that came with the sudden transition into pregnancy.
Although I was overjoyed and deeply grateful to learn I was pregnant, I hadn’t anticipated how dramatically my life would change. At 38, I’d built a life I loved, full of familiar routines and little pleasures that suddenly felt out of reach. Gone were the comforting scent of the sauna, the soothing heat of a magnesium spa, and the blissful, post-hot-pilates high. My diet took on new restrictions, and date nights with my partner looked and felt different. With each passing month, I began to feel a subtle fear creeping in—a fear of losing myself. Who would I become beyond pregnancy? Was I ready to step away from my career? Could I even continue my career as I once had?
I felt as though I was navigating this profound change blindly, especially in those early days when I was still holding life’s biggest secret close. I craved support, a place where I could be seen and heard, without feeling ungrateful or judged. I needed to find calm within myself, to approach this new season of life with a sense of ease and empowerment, and to allow space for myself to grow into it.
With PAIISE, my mission is to share the tools that sustained me through pregnancy—the resources I wished I’d had to feel more grounded and prepared—so that you, too, can navigate this beautiful journey with confidence, calm, and a deep sense of support.
