things to keep you busy during self-isolation
COVID-19 lock down is happening. Not sure how we got here, but what I know is that we are all in this together (yes, I went there).
This is real, it’s happening, so instead of complaining and dwelling, let’s shift the focus on the small silver lining.
We have time. T I M E! More time to dedicate to ourselves which we have all been wishing for. Most of us desire to work from home, so now we have that luxury to wear our suit jackets on top and undies on the bottom - why the heck are we complaining? Some of us wanted time off to focus inward, so why are we not embracing it and discovering our chakras mid downward dog (more like downward spiral)? Others, to simply start a project that’s been on the back burner for too long. All because of lack of time.
We are fortunate enough that resources aren’t going to run out, so this temporary period gives us the opportunity to reset and refocus. It’s about being proactive and positive - not pessimistic.
Here are some ideas to get you by that you may have let slip to the wayside:
Finally organise your home. You know the kitchen and hallway storage that spill out with stuff? Now is as good a time as any to finally have a good clean out and reorganisation.
Next would be cleaning out the closet, surely there’s things from 15 years ago that most likely won’t have a come back.
If the above scares you, look to the experts like Marie Kondo for motivation. She’ll have you organised in no time.
There’s probably a few good books collecting dust from past holidays that are yet to be a) finished or b) opened.
Start an online course. You have resources at your fingertips, so maybe it’s time to finally learn how to crochet, cook, paint or in my case, learn an instrument. In other words, wipe dust off the ‘ol guitar received as a 21st gift and finally learn a few chords.
Clean out and organise your iPhone photo gallery. If you’re like me and have over 14,000 images clogging up space, it’s time to get it together.
Declutter and organise your home work space to encourage creativity and inspiration.
Start or recommence that long awaited passion project or business idea. Listen to this Tony Robbins podcast about why now is a good time to start instead of your inner voice telling you otherwise. I’d take expert advice over my inner mean girl’s anytime, right?
Take an online course to up-skill and potentially carve a new career path.
Start a blog! Yep, just like this one, get your ideas onto the screen. They’re worth reading.
